Grants to USA, Canada, and International researchers and research teams associated with institutions for projects to improve the health and welfare of large companion animals, such as horses, llamas, and alpacas. Animal health research projects must be humane, hypothesis-driven, and of high scientific merit and potential impact.
The mission of Morris Animal Foundation is to bridge science and resources to advance the health of animals. To achieve this aim, the Foundation funds hypothesis-driven, humane animal health research projects with high scientific merit and the potential for significant impact on animal health.
Four types of grants are available:
Pilot Study Grants

Established Investigator: . Amount: Is limited to a total budget not to exceed $75,000, inclusive of a maximum of 8% indirect costs (if charged by your institution). The total maximum available award is $75,000.
Pilot Study: The budget cannot exceed $10,800 ($10,000 plus 8 percent for indirect costs if charged by the institution).
First Award Funding: The Foundation is limiting the total budget to not exceed $100,000, inclusive of indirect costs.
Fellowship Training: The Foundation is allowing up to $25,000 for consumables funding in applications for this year's Fellowship Training grant.
Established Investigator: Maximum study duration is three years.
First Award and Fellowship Training: The maximum study duration is two years.
Pilot Study: A maximum of one year is permitted.
